What are important foods can I eat if I have diabetes?

The good thing is that you can still eat your chosen foods, but it might essential to eat smaller quantities or enjoy them less often. 

The importance of eating with diabetes is to eat a variety of healthy foods from all food groups, in the quantities your meal plan outlines.

The food groups are given below:-

vegetables

Nonstarchy Vegetables- It includes broccoli, carrots, greens, peppers, and tomatoes.

Starchy Vegetables - like potatoes, corn, and green peas.

Fruits:- It includes oranges, melon, berries, apples, bananas, and grapes

Grains—Small quantity of your grains for the day should be whole grains

like wheat, rice, oats, cornmeal, barley.

  • Protein 
  • Lean meat
  • Chicken without the skin
  • Fish 
  • Eggs
  • Nuts and peanuts
  • Dairy—nonfat or low fat
  • Yogurt
  • Cheese

Eat foods with heart-healthy  fats, which contains  come from these foods:

Oils that are liquid at room temperatures, like canola and olive oil.

Nuts and seeds.

Heart-healthy fish like salmon, tuna, and mackerel

Avocado

Use oils when cooking food in its place of butter, cream, shortening, lard, or stick margarine.
